Los Angeles, USA – South Africa’s vibrant creative force took center stage at H&M’s large-scale music and fashion festival in Los Angeles, celebrating the brand’s latest U.S. expansion and the unveiling of its Spring/Summer 2025 collection. Among the standout guests: Tyla, Elaine, Violy, and Melody Molale, whose presence brought unmistakable African elegance and energy to the global stage.
Held at the historic Ace Mission Studios in Boyle Heights, the festival welcomed over 5,000 attendees — including chart-topping musicians, digital creatives, and tastemakers. South Africa’s contingent didn’t just participate; they captivated, symbolizing a broader cultural shift toward African influence on global fashion and music.
Elaine: Law Student Turned Global R&B Star
Ndivhuwo Elaine Mukheli — known mononymously as Elaine — first rose to fame while studying law at the University of the Witwatersrand. In 2019, she self-released her debut EP, Elements, which climbed to No. 1 on both the South African iTunes and Apple Music charts, making her the first independent female artist to achieve this milestone.
The EP was later certified Platinum by the Recording Industry of South Africa (RiSA) and earned a SAMA nomination for Best R&B/Soul Album in 2020. Her rise culminated in a signing with Columbia Records at the end of that year, solidifying her as one of South Africa’s most influential modern voices.

Tyla: Fashion’s Newest Global Muse
Fellow global star Tyla made an unforgettable entrance, wearing a head-turning piece from H&M’s SS25 collection. The Grammy-winning singer, best known for the hit “Jump”, styled her look with high-end Le Silla Belen sandals in patent Nero black, valued at $862.
Tyla’s fusion of streetwear glamour and high fashion continues to define her as one of the industry’s most watched style icons.
Violy & Melody Molale: Digital Excellence Meets High Fashion
Content creator and strategist Violy and luxury fashion and lifestyle influencer Melody Molale also attended the festival, adding their distinct aesthetics to the event. Known for championing African brands, both creatives have become synonymous with authentic storytelling, visual excellence, and pan-African digital influence.
Their presence in L.A. marks another bold moment for African women in media, demonstrating that global platforms are increasingly welcoming voices with originality and cultural depth.
H&M’s Cultural Pivot
H&M continues to evolve its narrative from fast fashion to cultural immersion. “We’ve collaborated with artists like Madonna, Beyoncé, and Kylie Minogue,” said Chief Creative Officer Jörgen Andersson, “but now we’re investing in the next generation of talent — ones who not only look the part but live the culture.”
The new Spring/Summer 2025 collection launches globally online and in-store from 20 March 2025. With fresh silhouettes, tactile textures, and bold femininity, the campaign is fronted by a dynamic cast including Tyla, FKA twigs, and Caroline Polachek.
South Africa’s Global Moment
As the music played and the flashbulbs lit up L.A.’s skyline, Tyla ,and her gorgeous sister Sydney, Elaine, Violy, and Melody Molale were more than just guests — they were ambassadors of a South Africa reimagined for the world stage: artistic, assertive, and absolutely global.
