La Roche-Posay Marks 50 Years with Skincare Masterclass at Mabula Game Lodge
Brand celebrates milestone with immersive dermatology experience for creators and skin health advocates
Luxury met learning this past weekend as La Roche-Posay commemorated its 50th anniversary with a curated skincare masterclass at the Mabula Game Lodge in Limpopo. The French dermatological brand, known for its science-backed formulations and partnerships with over 90 000 dermatologists globally, invited a select group of South African creators, health professionals, and media voices to take part in a two-day educational experience set against the backdrop of the bushveld.
Among the guests was creator and wellness advocate @khutjomatsoma, who described the gathering as “so special,” reflecting on five decades of dermatological innovation and the power of purpose-led beauty. Sharing highlights from Day 1, she noted the balance between education and immersion, learning about the brand’s core pillars while enjoying thoughtful sessions curated by skincare experts.
Themed around the hashtag #LRPSkinCareMasterclass, the weekend featured in-depth demonstrations of La Roche-Posay’s key ranges, including Effaclar, Cicaplast, and Anthelios, all formulated with the brand’s signature thermal spring water known for its soothing and antioxidant properties. Guests also participated in clinical skincare briefings, UV damage detection activities, and hands-on tutorials designed to reinforce the science of preventative skin health.
As one of the most dermatologist-recommended brands worldwide, La Roche-Posay continues to lead the conversation on skin barrier repair, photoprotection, and acne-prone skin management. The brand’s South African division has intensified its educational outreach, working with local health professionals to destigmatise chronic skin conditions and promote evidence-based care, particularly for sensitive skin types prevalent in African climates.

This milestone masterclass signals a deeper brand commitment to consumer education and transparent skincare formulation. The event also forms part of the global “Skin Health Mission”, La Roche-Posay’s initiative to bridge the gap between medical dermatology and accessible skincare through strategic partnerships and public campaigns.
