Kigali, Rwanda — At this year’s YouthConnekt Africa and Hanga PitchFest, one finalist’s journey stood out for its impressive depth and ambitious vision: King Chukwumere, founder and CEO of LifeLine 🌻 and Horus Hathor, took LifeLine to the top five among over 500 applicants, showcasing his dedication to addressing healthcare challenges across Africa through cutting-edge technology.
With a background as a native iOS and low-level programmer, Chukwumere has amassed expertise developing software for diverse industries, from gaming and wildlife conservation to education and entertainment. He primarily uses Swift for Apple ecosystem development and Rust for low-level programming, both of which are highly valued for their efficiency and reliability. His work with LifeLine focuses on building sustainable healthcare solutions that blend technology with practical, accessible medical support—a vision he attributes to the invaluable support of Rwanda’s vibrant innovation ecosystem.
LifeLine’s journey began with six months in five accelerators, generating revenue within its first month of beta testing—a feat that highlights Chukwumere’s business acumen and ability to bring impactful ideas to fruition. This success reflects Rwanda’s growing support for technology-driven enterprises and the collaborative role of organizations like the Rwanda Development Board (RDB), Jasiri4Africa, and the Ministry of ICT.
A key milestone for Chukwumere’s startup occurred at Hanga PitchFest, where he presented LifeLine’s mission to esteemed judges, including Antoine Kajangwe, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Trade and Industry, and Christelle Kwizera, CEO of Water Access Rwanda. “The feedback we received from such experienced and visionary leaders has been invaluable,” Chukwumere shared. “It’s shaped our strategy and shown us how LifeLine can make a sustainable impact in African healthcare.”
This progress has not gone unnoticed. LifeLine has been championed by prominent figures, including His Excellency Prime Minister Édouard Ngirente and Her Excellency Mrs. Paula Ingabire, Rwanda’s Minister of ICT, underscoring the government’s commitment to transforming the country into a hub of innovation and economic empowerment. With this support, Chukwumere is positioning LifeLine not just as a startup but as a foundational pillar of a modern, tech-driven healthcare infrastructure for Africa.
Outside of LifeLine, Chukwumere’s career is marked by his impressive versatility and entrepreneurial spirit. In 2023, he founded Horus Hathor, a software company specializing in spatial computing, reflecting his commitment to exploring new technological frontiers. He is also a member of the Apple Students Developers Club at The AfricanLeadership University, where he engages with like-minded young innovators.
