Held in a spirit of collaboration, the event was inaugurated by Khensani NobandaNedbank’s Group ExecutiveGMCA, who stressed the bank’s steadfast dedication to addressing critical issues: climate changefood and waterinsecurity, and the pressing challenges of unemployment and inequality. Her words echoed throughout the gathering, inspiring the attendees to think beyond immediate solutions and towards building an adaptable and sustainable South Africa. “Green is the new gold,” Nobanda affirmed, speaking to both the urgency and the potential profitability of environmental responsibility.

Among the distinguished awardees were Dziphatu Green Tech (PTY) LTD, which took home the Green SME Award for Social Innovation, and Leano Agri Cop, awarded for its groundbreaking efforts in sustainable agriculture and land use. Topping the list, the Pheko Group received the prestigious Nedbank GreenEconomy Award, a testament to their remarkable impact in advancing sustainable practices across the board.

As the event drew to a close, Poovi PillayNedbank’s Executive Head of Group CSI, encapsulated the spirit of the Indaba with a powerful reflection: “Thank you for the gift of you.
