In a dazzling celebration of excellence, conductor and architect Ofentse Pitse graced the stage at a meticulously curated event hosted by Hennessy, honoring their newest brand ambassadors—Maglera Doe Boy and Kabza de Small. The night was a testament to the fusion of classical music with contemporary African artistry, and Pitse’s presence added an air of sophistication and cultural richness to the occasion.
Held in an intimate and exclusive setting, the event seamlessly blended music, luxury, and camaraderie, highlighting the ethos of Hennessy’s ‘gold standard.’ With her renowned orchestra ensemble, Anchored Sound, Pitse orchestrated a breathtaking rendition of ‘Let Me Cook’ and ‘Adiwele,’ amplifying the performances of the evening’s honorees. The symphonic adaptation of these tracks not only showcased her innovative approach to music but also solidified her reputation as a pioneer in bridging the gap between classical and modern genres.
The evening was filled with serendipitous encounters and remarkable moments. Among them was Pitse’s first-time meeting with celebrated DJ and media personality Lamiez Holworthy. In a delightful and unexpected twist, multi-talented artist Boity Thulo took the stage as a guest conductor, embracing the spirit of artistic collaboration that defined the night.
Pitse, the youngest African woman to own and conduct an orchestra, continues to carve her path as a cultural luminary. Her journey, deeply rooted in education, discipline, and passion, has led her to curate immersive musical experiences that challenge the boundaries of conventional orchestral performances. Born and raised in the City of Tshwane, she first discovered her love for music in the Salvation Army brass band, mastering instruments such as the English horn, trumpet, flugelhorn, and cornet. Under the mentorship of esteemed conductors Thami Zungu and Gerben Grooten, she transitioned from a musician to a conductor, ultimately founding Anchored Sound—a 40-piece orchestra accompanied by a 25-person choir.

Her ability to merge classical music with modern African soundscapes has positioned her as a key player in the orchestral world. By weaving tradition with innovation, Pitse continues to elevate African musical narratives on global platforms. The Hennessy event was yet another testament to her ability to transform any stage into an enchanting symphonic spectacle.
As the night drew to a close, Pitse raised a glass in a toast to excellence, unity, and the perfect blend of eaux-de-vie—a fitting tribute to the convergence of artistry, legacy, and the power of music.
To black. To brilliance. To the ‘gold standard.’
