
Kigali, Rwanda – The 6th World Congress on Agroforestry (WCA2025) concluded successfully in Kigali, marking a milestone in the global effort to advance sustainable land management, biodiversity conservation, and climate resilience through agroforestry.
Under the theme “Agroforestry for People, Planet & Profit,” the Congress brought together more than 1,500 participants from around the world, including scientists, policymakers, civil society leaders, farmers, and representatives of the private sector. Delegates shared research, innovations, and best practices in agroforestry systems aimed at supporting sustainable and resilient communities.
Hosted in Kigali, the event underscored the power of science, community, and collaboration in tackling climate change and promoting inclusive growth. Experts emphasized agroforestry’s pivotal role in sustainable food systems, ecosystem restoration, and rural livelihoods. Participants discussed how tree-based farming systems can help smallholder farmers adapt to changing climates, restore degraded lands, and generate sustainable income, aligning with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
