The Federation of Southern African Franchisees (FASA) once again hosted its annual Golf Day, and this year’s event, held on October 4, 2024, at the Randpark Golf Club, was nothing short of extraordinary. With a full roster of players and even more networking opportunities, the day brought together top business figures across a range of sectors, offering them a chance to relax, compete, and connect in a vibrant sporting atmosphere. The event also introduced an exciting new element: Padel, a trending racket sport, allowing non-golfers to partake in the day’s action.

Setting the Scene: A Morning Boost
The event kicked off with players being greeted by Seattle Coffee’s mobile unit, serving up freshly brewed coffee to fuel participants for the day ahead. Golfers registered and were handed well-curated goodie bags that included grooming essentials from Legends Barbershop—a face soap, wipes, and beard pens—alongside FASA-branded caps, towels, energy bars made from Mopani worms, and a can of Red Bull for that extra energy boost.
The Line-Up: Diverse Sectors Take to the Green

This year’s Golf Day was not just about golf. Absa and Last.Mile.Fast headlined as sponsors, while 18 hole sponsors provided gifts, refreshments, and hole-in-one prizes. The roster of players represented a broad spectrum of industries:
• Retail giants like Food Lovers Market, Overland Liquors, and Cash Converters battled it out on the greens.
• The Fast Food & Restaurant sector was well represented, with teams from Mochachos, Pizza Perfect, Sausage Saloon, and Col’Cacchio.
• Golfers from the Building & DIY sector included representatives from Mica and Defendoor.
• Even the Grooming sector got in on the action, with Legends Barbershop taking a break from their usual scissors and clippers to hit the fairway.

It was clear that golf was the sport of choice for FASA’s service providers and suppliers, with key players from the finance and banking sector such as Absa, African Bank, Business Partners, Capitec, FNB, Nedbank, and MTN competing for top honors.

On the Course: Fun, Prizes, and Surprises
Hole sponsors like Bridgment, Col’Cacchio, Defendoor, MTN, and Sheerguard kept the energy high by offering refreshments and setting up exciting competitions. The top twelve four-balls walked away with prizes ranging from fast food vouchers and hampers to golf accessories and power packs.
Wrapping Up: A Day to Remember
After an intense but enjoyable day, participants gathered for the prize-giving ceremony. The day concluded on a high note with a reflection on the valuable networking opportunities, and the successful event sets the stage for an even bigger and better Golf Day in 2025.
