Goose Katai Hosts Exclusive Chanel Beauty Masterclass

South African beauty influencer and certified makeup artist Goose Katai recently led a high-profile makeup masterclass in collaboration with Chanel Beauty, cementing her position as a prominent voice in the country’s beauty and lifestyle industry. The event brought together aspiring makeup enthusiasts and industry followers for an immersive session focused on technique, artistry, and professional insight.

Katai, whose real name is Gosego Katai, is widely recognised for her approachable tutorials on platforms such as Instagram and TikTok, where she engages a following of over 39,000. Her sessions emphasise foundational skills such as shade matching, blending, and achieving signature “glowy” looks, making professional makeup artistry accessible to beginners and enthusiasts alike.

Katai’s masterclass was elevated by the participation of Miss South Africa 2021, Lalela Mswane, who served as the session’s stage face model. Mswane, a lawyer and professional model from Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal, gained international recognition after winning Miss Supranational 2022 and securing second runner-up at Miss Universe 2021. Crowned at the 63rd edition of the Miss South Africa pageant on October 16, 2021, at the Grand Arena, GrandWest, Cape Town, Mswane’s platform focused on youth empowerment and tackling unemployment through her #BeReady entrepreneurial programme—an ethos that resonated with the class’s focus on professional development and self-expression.

The masterclass underscored Katai’s growing influence within beauty and fashion circles, marked by previous collaborations with global brands including Dior BeautyRare BeautyFenty SkinNARSHuda Beauty, and Maybelline. Locally, she has partnered with retailers such as Woolworths and Arc Store, further establishing her reputation as a bridge between global beauty trends and South African consumers.

Attendees of the Chanel masterclass praised Katai’s dynamic teaching style and the practical, hands-on guidance she provided. In her post-event reflections, Katai expressed gratitude for the opportunity to share her expertise and highlighted the energy and engagement of participants as a highlight of the session.

Katai’s trajectory demonstrates a blend of technical proficiency, strategic brand partnerships, and community engagement, positioning her as a rising authority in South Africa’s beauty sector. As social media continues to shape consumer trends and professional opportunities, Katai’s work illustrates the potential for content creators to merge education, artistry, and brand collaboration into meaningful career growth.

Her work not only educates aspiring makeup artists but also cultivates a broader cultural appreciation for professional beauty standards and creative expression across digital and in-person platforms.
